A 14 year-old Teen Did What???

What could a homeless man and a teen have in common? You might think nothing…or you could come up with a few things like maybe they both like boxing, or chocolate, or they found out they’re related. But, in this case, it’s not any one of these or anything similar.

So, what is it? These two met on a hot September afternoon at a food kitchen where 14 year-old Ron Ron was helping serve meals. He had joined “Purp Me” three years earlier and had transformed from an unruly youth living in a crime ridden neighborhood into an upstanding young man full of love and giving.

After a long shift of serving, Ron Ron saw one of the homeless men sitting on the curb. Knowing it’s a human need to interact with others, he sat down on the curb next to him and began to talk. The man opened up to Ron Ron, who soon learned he had no friends, no family, no love. As they talked, he noticed the man’s shoes were worn and tattered. Ron Ron wanted to bring happiness to this man so he removed his own shoes and gave them to him. Such a kind, selfless act brought tears to the man’s eyes.

It’s unfortunate, but acts such as these often go unnoticed, especially in today’s media where crime, violence, and other drama is showcased in order to bring in more viewers. But, I know there are lots of kind things done out in the world and it’s refreshing to hear about them. God puts people in places where they can help others, and all we need to do is listen and do the good things he inspires us to do.
